Could you be affected by the scan to email changes?
Scan to Email – Here’s What You Need to Know
If your organization uses Microsoft 365 (Office 365) or Google services to send scans from your photocopiers, there’s an important update coming that could affect your workflow.
What’s Changing
In 2025, Microsoft and Google are retiring Basic Authentication for Client Submission (SMTP Auth). Simply put, if your scan-to-email setup still uses Basic Auth, your scans might stop sending emails unless it’s updated.
What You Should Do
To avoid interruptions:
-
Check your current setup with your IT team or email administrator.
-
Switch from Basic Auth to a supported authentication method (if needed).
-
Reconfigure your photocopiers or scanning software –your IT team or our engineers can help.
Need a Helping Hand?
If you don’t have an internal IT team, don’t worry! We offer a hosted, cost-effective, scan-to-email service to keep your scanning running smoothly. Our team can handle setup and ongoing support so you don’t have to worry. We urge you not to delay however, as support requests are increasing as the deadline approaches.
