What Will They Do With The Donation?
Man Shed at the Moor
Neil and his team plan to create a space primarily for males, providing friendship and fellowship, encouragement to interact, discuss and find guidance.
The “Man Shed” will be a 20” x 8” shipping container with lining to keep the container dry and warm, a safe electrical supply, seating and work benches.
Running costs will be minimal and run by volunteers. Voluntary donations by those using the Man Shed will be used for hobby and craft work, together with tools which have already been offered.
It is hoped that the Man Shed at the Moor will be ready early November.
Building A Future
Neil Making, centre manager of Illingworth Moor Methodist Church comments: “We have already had a number of enquiries about membership. We know the internal space we have is limited, and we know that similar projects have expanded rapidly, so depending on the success of the project, we may be looking to expand with further units and seek support from our current fund providers. Watch this space!”
Dave Lees, trustee of the ABS Foundation and director at ABS UK said of the recent donation, “This is a really great initiative which will support the wider community of Calderdale. It is a fantastic idea that has got the potential to expand into other key areas to support mental health”
