In late 2025, Jacob visited the Eliya Children’s Home for Orphans in Tangalle, Sri Lanka, a project proudly supported by the ABS Foundation since our work there in 2013/14.
While his visit included time to experience the local area and meet those involved in the wider community, the most meaningful part of the trip was spending time at Eliya with the children and staff.
The home, which benefits from the infirmary and volunteer accommodation previously funded by the ABS Foundation, continues to provide vital care and support for children who have faced circumstances that are difficult to fully comprehend from afar.
During his visit, Jacob spent time speaking with staff about the ongoing needs of the home, as well as discussing the Foundation’s continued commitment to supporting sustainable, long-term improvements where they are needed most. Conversations also explored ideas for future initiatives, with a shared focus on practical support that can make a lasting difference to daily life at Eliya.
What remains most striking is the strength and resilience of the children and the dedication of the staff who care for them every day. It is a reminder of why the Foundation exists: to contribute, in a small but meaningful way, to projects that have a real and lasting impact on people’s lives.
We continue to be proud of our connection with Eliya, and grateful for the opportunity to support the work being done there.
