Secure Remote Assistance FAQ’s
Everything you need to know about our secure remote assistance service.
Secure remote assistance allows an ABS IT engineer to temporarily connect to your computer over an encrypted connection to diagnose and resolve technical issues without needing to visit your premises. It provides fast, convenient support while maintaining the security of your systems and data.
Yes. We only use trusted, industry-recognised remote support software that encrypts every session. You remain in control throughout the process, and connections are only established with your permission.
In most cases, you’ll simply download and run a small application that allows our engineer to connect securely. Any instructions will be provided by your support technician, and the software can usually be removed once your session has finished if required.
Yes. During a remote support session, you can watch everything the engineer is doing on your screen. Our technicians will explain the work they’re carrying out and may ask for your permission before making significant changes.
Absolutely. You can disconnect the session whenever you choose by closing the remote support application or informing your engineer that you’d like to end the connection.
Many issues can be resolved remotely, including software errors, Microsoft 365 problems, printer connectivity issues, email setup, network troubleshooting, user account problems, security updates and general IT support.
Our engineers only access the information needed to diagnose and resolve your issue. They do not browse personal or business files unless it is necessary for the support request and with your knowledge.
Yes. A stable internet connection is required so our engineer can establish a secure connection to your device. If your internet connection is unavailable, we’ll discuss alternative ways to assist you.
The length of a session depends on the issue, but many common IT problems can be diagnosed and resolved within a single support session, helping to minimise disruption to your business.
Remote assistance is primarily provided to customers with an active IT support agreement. If you’re not currently a customer, contact us to discuss your requirements and the support options available.
Save any open work where possible and have your computer switched on and connected to the internet. Your ABS engineer will guide you through downloading the remote support application and connecting securely.
