Overview of The Next Step Trust

The Next Step Trust is a UK charity supporting adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities, complex health needs and autism. Next Step was established in 2006 by parents seeking a person-centred, stimulating service for their sons and daughters after high school. At the time, the situation was described as “falling off a precipice,” as no suitable provision existed for young adults with complex needs. Since then, Next Step has grown into a bespoke service, expanding facilities and opportunities in response to changing user needs. Today, it provides support across three Day Services and a Respite provision.

The Challenge

When Next Step first approached us over 20 years ago, they were small but ambitious, with limited resources and a tight budget. Their challenge was clear: build robust systems, processes, and infrastructure that supported operations without compromising quality. Therefore, they needed a supplier who could help them work efficiently and make every investment count, as they pursued their long-term goal of happier Next Steppers.

We first partnered with Next Step to deliver a managed print service, providing a reliable and cost-effective solution for their immediate operational needs. As the organisation grew, their requirements expanded, and we grew alongside them. Building on the success of the managed print service, we then introduced comprehensive IT support services. This ensures Next Step has secure, efficient, and scalable technology to support its ongoing development.
